About Us…
The aim for Friends United Against MS has always been to offer support. With our personal connection to MS, we find ourselves working against the struggle on the large scale through our charitable work, and also close to our hearts with a dear friend who faces MS bravely every day.
Our mission in 2006 is to continue raising funds for research, but also to start a support group for people with MS who are in their twenties and thirties. Most diagnoses occur between the ages of 20-40, and 2/3 of those are in women. Allison pointed out the need for support for her age group.
Attending other support groups left Allison longing for more, and instead of settling, she decided to do something about it. In January 2007, Allison will start Our Group. The support group will focus on the impact MS has on the lives of the people in this particular age group and give the members an opportunity to make new friends and bring their own friends to participate.
In support of Allison’s effort, a portion of the proceeds from this fall’s fundraisers will go toward start-up expenses for Our Group. It is our hope that those with MS and their family and friends will become involved.
If you would like to support Our Group with a monetary donation, please mail a check made out to Friends United Against MS and write “Our Group” in the memo line. All funds donated in this way will go directly to supporting this new branch of our organization. We thank you now for your support and interest in our new endeavor. |
